Our Centenary Anniversary Celebration

The celebration of the club’s 100th anniversary took place at the LifeCentre in Sale on the 8th March 2025

As well as club members, the event was attended by several special guests. They included Craig Tiley the Editor of Railway Modeller, George Dent the Editor of Model Rail, Simon George the builder of Heaton Lodge Junction, Tim Watson, President of the Model Railway Club in London and Derek Mundy one of our annual exhibition judges. Some of these gentlemen made long journeys and we thank them for making our day so special.

The celebration featured judging of the 9 entries in the Centenary Challenge Competition, a talk by Simon George about his Heaton Lodge Junction layout and a presentation on the club’s history by Phil Sweet.

A birthday cake specially baked and decorated for the event featured the club logo and also 11 pictures around the sides charting the last 100 years of railway and club history.
