Especially for the children!

We’ve catered for the experienced finescale modeller and for the general public, but we haven’t forgotten the children.  There are lots of things for them to do – and remember, they get in for free!  (Maximum of three children with each paying adult)

In Room 8 you’ll find THREE layouts aimed at our younger visitors:

Bricksville a small demonstration layout which needs lots of helpers to drive the trains.

Moormead Sidings  is a large shunting yard somewhere on the Isle of Sodor where Thomas and his friends need help to arrange the goods trains in the right order.

And finally Thomas’ Christmas Surprise   It’s brand new for our exhibition – you won’t have seen it anywhere before!  Thomas and his friends have had brand new DCC systems fitted and the layout has also got lots of special effects for all the visitors to operate.

At least three of the other visiting layouts have said that they sometimes allow visitors to drive their trains if they ask nicely!  If the operator is standing in front of the layout it’s worth asking!

In Room 3 there is a display of clever electronic control organised by the MERG group.  They are very keen for you to have a go.

There are several other demonstrations, eg scenery, plastic kit construction and 3D printing, which are suitable for both adults and children.

.Every child who visits the exhibition can enter our FREE Prize Treasure Hunt to win a big prize!

To enter, children have to find the answers to some questions about the things at the exhibition.  The best 20 answer sheets will go into a draw at 3pm on Sunday and the lucky winner will go home with an early Christmas present – a complete train set!

And finally, when your parents want a sit down and a cup of tea, there are two areas in the cafe and restaurant with a supply of toys and drawing materials for you to use!

(This is NOT a creche, children must be supervised by their carers at all times.)
